A fun filled day for all the family celebrating and showcasing the skills and opportunities in the construction industry and the built environment – focusing on eco construction and sustainable technologies.
There will be diggers and dumpers, workshops and demonstrations, challenges and play activities, delicious food and lots of entertainment and music from local young bands – something for everyone.
The day also features the school House Build challenge – the culmination of a competition held for local secondary schools and sponsored by local contractors to build a scaled house – you will be able to see how they they get on throughout the day.
For primary schools there is a competition to design a ‘Model’ School and for 2012 a cross-channel challenge to design and build an Eco Pod, with teams from England and France having just 24 hours to come together and realise their ideal model.
Pathway to Construction is part of the Interreg Ecofab project which encourages the exchange and acquisition of knowledge, as well as the development of skills in the field of eco-construction.
